Jaburara (WA)
|
| | Location | At Nickol Bay and the peninsula leading north to Dolphin and Legendre islands. A small tribe, now extinct, with a separate dialect related to Ngaluma. The name merely means 'northerners.' My informant half remembered another name as Madoitja but suggested it be queried since he had not thought about it for a long time. In his youth the Jaburara had been reduced in numbers to 'a small family.' |

This information is reproduced from NB Tindale's Aboriginal Tribes of Australia (1974). Please be aware that much of the data relating to Aboriginal language group distribution and definition has undergone revision since 1974. Please note also that this catalogue represents Tindale's attempt to depict Aboriginal tribal distribution at the time of European contact. |
